RiverMist GIS Project

RiverMist Logo The Business Geographics classes at NIU are involved with an ungoing, real-world GIS project for DeKalb Associates, developers of the Bridges of RiverMist in DeKalb, Illinois. A special thanks is in order to Sal Bonanno, Director of Development, who has given freely of his time to provide us with the data necessary to make this GIS project a success.

Map created using Microsoft MapPoint 2001 The Spring 2000 class has created a GIS that provides a variety of information concerning neighborhood one, including:

  • lot type
  • lot price
  • lot availability
  • lot area in square feet
  • lot frontage in feet

The Summer 2000 and Spring 2001 class continued this project by creating a GIS for Neighborhood 2.
